About Bindings and Vessels
Vetting:
My vetting process for spirits is quite extensive. All spirits that will be available on this site for adoption have been with me a minimum of three months (most have been with me for far longer). I have given all spirits a chance to become comfortable in my presence and in the presence of different kinds of spirits. This allows me to judge how well they will fit in different types of families and discover what kind of energy they have. “Light” vs. “Dark” or “White” vs. “Black” is not specific enough for me to feel comfortable finding homes for these spirits.
I spend time getting to know their preferences and personalities. Some spirits don’t open up for an extended period of time as they attempt to protect themselves from a new or uncomfortable environment. Waiting this amount of time allows them to show their true colors. Exploring these spirit’s culture and personalities is also essential to finding them an appropriate companion. I also check for any problems such as injuries or parasites, and make sure I understand why each spirit is seeking a companion. This allows me to make sure every companion I rehome finds excellent matches for them.
Vessels:
Vessels are simply objects that spirits choose to attach to or inhabit. They can be pieces of jewelry, beads, pendants, boxes, statues, and more! If vessels are broken accidentally, it's a very simple process to move the spirit's energy to a new vessel. Simply put the old vessel and new vessel in a space together, cleanse the new vessel and ask the spirit to inhabit the new vessel. A broken vessel does not harm a spirit in any way, though it might annoy them. Vessels allow a spirit to have a place to go to communicate with their companion, and/or can give companions a way to connect with their spirit's energy and contact them.
Binding:
My binding process is very simple. When a spirit chooses to be bound to a vessel I first meditate on that spirit, trying to get a general feel of its preferences and attributes. Using this information, I look through my vessels, whether they are beads, jewelry, or stones, to feel for pieces that seem to appeal to the spirit. Using a pendulum, I lay out the chosen vessels and carefully narrow down the number of options by asking the spirit which vessels they prefer. Usually this results in a vessel being chosen. Rarely, it's a tie and I use a simple tarot spread to determine the more appropriate vessel. And occasionally I don't have a vessel suited to a particular spirit, and will have to wait for a vessel they like to show up in my collection or in a shop I'm browsing through. Sometimes spirits bind themselves to a vessel by themselves over time and they just need a bit of energy from me to recognize and solidify the bond.
